Four consecutive wins for the Baldwin boys’ basketball team kept the Braves in contention for the GHSA AAA Region 4 regular season title after a loss to Cross Creek two weeks ago dropped them to second in the region standings.
Baldwin extended its winning streak to four with wins over Hephziba and Westside (Augusta). The Braves beat the Rebels 72-48 and then beat the Patriots 73-63 in Augusta last Friday.
In the Braves’ battle with the Patriots, Baldwin was led by Karez Demory, Josiah Billups, and Zion Grant. Demory led the Braves in points, rebounds and steals with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and five steals. Billups had 16 points with four rebounds while Grant had 10 points and a team-best seven assists and three steals.
This week, the Braves are looking to finish the season strong with battles against region rivals Howard on Tuesday in Macon (past print deadline) and Aquinas on Friday in Milledgeville. The Braves will finish the regular season on Saturday at home vs Washington County. Tip off for all three games is at 7:30 p.m.
