After splitting decisions in the regular season with Cross Creek, the Baldwin Braves took on the Razorbacks once more Saturday night in a region playoff battle at home, where a narrow 53-51 decision went the way of the visitors.
The Braves won their first matchup of the GHSA AAA Region 4 tournament the previous night, beating Hephzibah 55-47 in Milledgeville to set up their third meeting with Cross Creek.
With the win over Baldwin, Cross Creek claimed the region tournament title and a number-two seed for GHSA AAA state playoffs. The Braves, on the other hand, despite finishing the regular season with a 22-3 overall record, a 15-1 region record, the regular season region title, and a number-seven seed for the state playoffs, earned yet another matchup this season against Hephzibah.
The Braves doubled up 72-36 on Hephzibah early in January at home, then visited the Rebels for a 72-48 win late last month, followed by last week’s region playoff win.
The Rebels finished 8-8 in Region 4 in the regular season, four spots behind the Braves in first place. The Braves and Rebels were scheduled to play this Wednesday (past press time), again in Milledgeville.
