An officer responded to the Wray Homes/ West End projects neighborhood on Saturday in reference to a runaway teen.
The officer was accompanied by two of the teen’s family members. The officer attempted to talk to the teen, Sarah Ann Bembry, 17. Bembry promptly yelled “shut the (expletive) up” and “kicked a trash can,” according to the incident report. The officer then “notified Sarah that she would need to leave the location and go home with her mother, with Sarah ignoring (the officer) and she began texting.”
Bembry subsequently threw her cell phone and attempted to run past the officer, according to the incident report. The officer grabbed Bembry, who was “rigid and would attempt to pull away from me.” Two more officers arrived, and Bembry was handcuffed and detained.
Bembry was charged with disorderly conduct and misdemeanor obstruction of an officer.
