Gunshots, around 50 of them, rang out off Allen Memorial Drive around 9:50 Monday night, and a man inside the home of 121 Lake Dr. SW was shot in the leg.
Lake Drive Southwest is located between Allen Memorial Drive and Ivey Drive and is referred by some as the “O.T. Pounds subdivision.”
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office recovered ballistic evidence from a pair of firearms, one handgun, and one rifle. Two people were inside the residence at the time, the gunshot victim and his girlfriend.
Later that night, the BCSO also responded to a “shots fired” call in the Southwood mobile home park, near the Vinson Highway and Johnnie McDade Grocery. Multiple shell casings were recovered near one of the mobile homes. Two people – a 16-year-old and a 7-year-old – were inside the residence during the gunfire.
Maj. Brad King said the BCSO is “still working to determine if the two incidents are related.”
Despite the two Monday-night incidents, 2026 has been calmer than usual, relative to Baldwin County, in terms of drive-by shootings and gun violence.
