Splash Baldwin dress code official

NOTHING TOO CHEEKY ALLOWED

The Baldwin County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday formally approved the standard operating procedures for the new Splash Baldwin waterpark.

Included in the “not allowed” section of the dress code are “thong and G-string bottoms” and “excessively cheeky bottoms.”

Added the dress code: “Guests may be asked to adjust swimwear, add cover-up or change.”

The dress code became a topic of conversation after an incident during the opening weekend of the waterpark, when a female patron was asked by an employee to “put on shorts.” The employee deemed that the woman’s bikini bottom was too revealing. The woman then shared her experience on Facebook.

“If you got a shape or bigger bottom size unless your wearing a dress or some big shorts to come swim don’t come to the water park in Milledgeville since they wanna discriminate me for wearing a two piece and there others wearing two pieces some doesn’t have a bigger bottom size like me and wasn’t told to put shorts on,” read the post.

In subsequent posts, the woman conveyed that she was considering filing a lawsuit against the waterpark and the county government. Meanwhile, one of her family members later posted “definitely a lawsuit coming” and “discrimination at its finest.”

According to Interim County Manager Sammy Hall, the woman was one of three waterpark patrons who were “asked to put on shorts” during the first weekend the park was opened.

County commissioners discussed the issue at a regular meeting earlier this month.

“If it continues to be an issue, we’re going to have to address it as a board and make a decision on,” said Chairman Kendrick Butts. “We can’t do this. We’ve got to be defined exactly on the rules what we consider appropriate and unappropriate.”
