An Athens man was shot in the arm during a drive-by shooting last Friday night on Thompson Circle.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, where they spotted multiple shell casings and blood in the road, but no victim. Since that time, attempts to reach the victim have been unsuccessful.
The victim later attempted to check himself into three different hospitals. according to Detective Chris Burrell. He left all three before receiving treatment, and that’s where the trail ends.
Thompson Circle is located off of the Vinson Highway and in the general vicinity of the old Southside Elementary School. Thompson Circle also is located several blocks away from James Avenue, which was the scene of a shootout during a house party four days prior. Detectives, however, don’t believe that the two shootings are connected.
