Attack reported in Midway Hills Academy lunchroom

Sheriff’s deputies responded to Midway Hills Academy last Wednesday following an incident in the school cafeteria.

According to the incident report, an “11-year-old male student used his plastic lunch tray to strike a 10-year-old female student” two times.

Added the incident report: “The first strike to (the victim’s) head caused her to hit her head on her tray and table leaving a contusion on her forehead and bruising to her face. The second strike was also to the head. The second strike caused the plastic lunch tray to break into three pieces and left what appeared to be bruising on the back of (the victim’s) ear and neck.”

The victim was transported to the emergency room. The victim’s mother is pursuing criminal charges against the other student, who was transported to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office and later an area Youth Detention Center facility. “Aggravated assault” was the offense listed on the incident report.
