Three women observed fighting at the Manor
Deputy Saralynn Henderson was patrolling South Jefferson Street when she saw three women fighting. As she exited the patrol vehicle, the women separated. They provided their Georgia driver’s licenses for identification. Regina Burgin stated she asked one of the other women about a person named “Juice,” and then they attacked her. She stated she did not know why the two jumped her. According to the other woman, one arrived at the residence to pick up the other and and her children. The victim said Burgin exited her vehicle and started yelling, “You Quianna?”
The victim said, within seconds, Burgin grabbed her hair and started to hit her.
The other woman ran toward them to try to break up the fight, at which time Burgin then grabbed her and refused to let go. When Henderson arrived, Burgin walked away. Both of the other women confirmed the same account. One had injuries to her head, but Burgin had no visible injuries. Burgin was then placed under arrest and transported to the jail without incident.
Underage drinker tries to fight bouncer
Milledgeville Police Officer D. Skaggs observed a man push and attempt to fight a bouncer at a bar on South Wayne Street. The suspect was identified as Riley Cayden Banks and was placed under arrest without incident for disorderly conduct. Banks was obviously intoxicated as his breath smelled like alcohol. A search revealed Banks was 20 years old according to his driver’s license, and the officer also found a pill bottle with the label peeled off. Inside were five blue pills believed to be Xanax, and two white pills and another half of a pill suspected to be hydrocodone.
Banks was transported to the jail, where he said he did have a prescription for the medication, but the label had peeled off on its own. Banks was charged with three felonies for the drugs along with misdemeanors for minor in possession of alcohol and disorderly conduct.
Woman helps herself to grandma’s checks
Sgt. T. Smith responded to a call from Century Bank & Trust Feb. 2 that a woman was trying to cash one of her grandmother’s checks. Upon arrival, Smith spoke to an employee who said a person she knows as Sophia Green came into the bank trying to cash a $119 check on the victim’s account. The teller took the check to her supervisor due to a flag on the account from Jan.
26 to not cash any checks from Green.
When confronted, Green left the bank.
The supervisor provided another check Green attempted to cash for $170 on Jan. 28 that was on a closed account.
While speaking to the sergeant, the supervisor received a call from another branch stating Green was there trying to cash yet another check. The sergeant had another officer respond to that call.
The supervisor also received a call from the victim, and the sergeant spoke with her on speakerphone. The victim said she put the alert on her account because she knew Green had some of her checks.
She said she had not authorized Green to use any checks to cash, make withdrawals, or sign her name. The sergeant had Green arrested, and the arresting officer turned over two more checks, one for $170 and another for $220. Video was also provided of Green passing the checks. Four warrants were secured for Green for forgery in the fourth degree.
