The Baldwin Braves basketball team improved their overall record to 14-2 with a 62-55 win over Harlem last Tuesday. The week before, the Braves scored a dominant win over West Laurens, followed by a narrow 63-62 victory over Cedar Shoals at the Georgia Interstate Hoops Classic.
The Braves’ wins over West Laurens and Harlem also improved their undefeated region record to 9-0, giving them a slight edge over rival Cross Creek which owns a region record of 9-1 and 14-5 overall.
On Tuesday this week (past print deadline) the Braves visited the Razorbacks in Augusta for the second time this season in a game to determine sole possession of first place in GHSA AAA region 4.
Baldwin’s other upcoming games this week include back-toback home games vs. Howard and Richmond Academy on Wednesday and Friday, followed by a trip to Sandersville on Saturday for a non-region battle against Washington County.
In last week’s wins over Cedar Shoals and Harlem the Braves’ leading scorers were Karez Demory with 21 points vs. Cedar Shoals and Zion Grant who scored the same number against Harlem. Demory also led the Braves in rebounds with 11 against Cedar Shoals and 10 against Harlem.
With only two weeks left in the regular season the Braves are hoping to win out and lock up the number-one seed for the region tournament before hopefully advancing to the GHSA AAA State Tournament.
