Whole Plant Wellness is currently collecting community feedback regarding “Doctor Days” to be hosted in the community and at Treevana Powered By Sanctuary, the local cannabis facility.
Founder of Whole Plant Wellness Mary Adams partners with cannabis facilities throughout the country to teach about the industry, the benefits of medical cannabis, and how to qualify for it. In November, her company hosted its first Doctor Day with a “lower turnout” than expected.
“Through Whole Plant Wellness, anyone could meet a certified physician for a consultation to see if they qualify for medical cannabis usage and the physician could approve them for their Georgia Medical Cannabis Card on the spot,” explained Adams. “These consultations eliminate the usual weeks-long waiting period for a physician consultation and approval. It also educates on how cannabis can help treat debilitating conditions, offering a legal alternative for pain, anxiety, and other symptoms.”
According to Adams there are 17 qualifying conditions to be able to purchase products from a dispensary. To be able to purchase medical cannabis, a license is required from the state after the recommendation of a physician.
“Interested individuals bring their medical history and prescriptions, along with their license to the consultation. Our physicians will discuss reactions with cannabis based on the history and prescriptions and how they may qualify.
Patients will leave with an informational packet,” said Adams. “Then, the required information from the consultation is then uploaded to the Georgia Department of Public Health’s registry.
This is a closed registry, meaning no one has access to the information.
The state then reaches out to the client via email, usually in 48 hours, for next steps.”
Adams stated that lower turnout may have been due to lack of promotion or the location, as doctor days at other locations have been more successful in the past.
“At this time no more Doctor Days are on the schedule. We want to hear from the Milledgeville and Baldwin County community and surrounding counties on how we can best serve them,” said Adams. “I plan to connect with a few local organizations to open discussions of hosting Doctor Days off campus, but discussions are still open to hosting them at Treevana, if it would benefit the wider community.”
Adams stated Wholeplant Wellness also offers consultations online at wholeplantwellness.net/, which are always available. Treevana also offers consultations to discuss how one may qualify and the benefits of medical cannabis, however, physicians are not available in these specific consultations and Treevana cannot promote products or qualify participants.
“We already work with many veterans groups in the local area and other cannabis facilities in the state. I have seven years of professional experience in the medical cannabis industry,” said Adams.
“Just like my company, Treevana cares deeply about educating potential customers and ensuring the best interest of each individual. Our goal is to offer you personalized care and support on your journey to better health.”
