GMC Prep wins state literary competition

Georgia Military College Prep School won the State Literary Competition, securing the championship title for the 10th consecutive year. This impressive milestone demonstrates the hard work and dedication by the literary team, coached by Mark Weaver and Jenny Morris.

'Our students continually raise the bar, demonstrating remarkable creativity, resilience, and passion for the literary arts,' said Weaver, director of fine arts.

'It’s an honor to witness their growth and success year after year. This achievement reflects the dedication of our students and the support of our GMC community.'

Hosted on Georgia Military College’s Main Campus, the competition welcomed over 65 high schools from across the state of Georgia, featuring more than 450 students. With coaches and parents also in attendance, the event brought over 700 participants to the Milledgeville community.

Competitors faced off in 12 categories, including Girls Solo, Boys Solo, Girls Trio, Boys Quartet, Humorous Acting, Dramatic Acting, Duo Acting, Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, International Extemporaneous Speaking, Literary Analysis Essay, Argumentative Essay, and Personal Essay.

GMC Prep students showcased their exceptional abilities, earning top awards in numerous categories and contributing to the team’s championship victory.
