Allied Arts is now accepting art pieces for its annual Haunted Milledgeville Exhibit.
The Haunted Milledgeville Exhibit focuses on the haunted history of Milledgeville and Baldwin County. Art pieces can relate to haunted attractions, crime stories, or anything spooky as long as the city or county is incorporated in some way.
“Artists may submit up to three pieces. Submission is free and open to anyone,” said Kristin Allen, program coordinator for Allied Arts. “This is a fun exhibit we began last year to highlight the history of Milledgeville and bring another Halloween attraction to the October festivities.”
The exhibit will run from Oct. 3-31 at the John Marlor Arts Center, located at 201 N. Wayne St. As part of the exhibit’s educational aspect, Allied Arts will put together a guide of the historical significance of each piece submitted. Artists are recommended to bring in or email a short description of the historical tale, if applicable, of their piece. These descriptions can be dropped off with the artwork or emailed to alliedarts@ milledgevillealliedarts. com. Each description should specify what artwork it is in relation to if multiple pieces are submitted.
“Last year I culminated in a book guide to go with our exhibit. Viewers could pick it up in the exhibition rooms and read about the history of the location, case, or inspiration to each piece,” said Allen. “People really enjoyed that extra depth to the exhibit.”
Art submissions for the exhibit can include digital art, drawings, paintings, pottery, sculptures, and crafted pieces. All submissions that need to be hung are required to already have the hanging wire attached.
The deadline to drop off artwork is Sept. 27 at noon at the John Marlor Arts Center.
