The Milledgeville Police Department announced an ongoing investigation into the death of a 16-year-old on Nov. 25 on the 2300 block of Anthony Way.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., patrol units from the Milledgeville Police Department responded to multiple reports of shots fired.
While units were on the way to the scene they were advised of multiple homes and vehicles struck by gunfire. Callers also advised dispatchers that occupants of a red Dodge Charger and dark blue Toyota Corolla were observed shooting from the vehicles.
According to the Milledgeville Police Department's Facebook, officers arrived in the area and located a dark blue Toyota Corolla at the end of Anthony Way with several bullet holes and discovered the victim, sixteen-year-old Desmond Rivers, suffering from a gunshot wound to the front of his forehead in the front passenger seat. Rivers was pronounced deceased at the scene.
As officers were securing the crime scene, a Baldwin County deputy reportedly observed the red Dodge Charger on Dunlap Road and conducted a traffic stop. The Dodge Charger also had bullet holes and all four occupants were detained and transported to the Baldwin County Jail for questioning by Milledgeville PD detectives.
Through subsequent investigation, Milledgeville Police Department detectives identified three suspects in relation to this incident. At this time, two suspects have been arrested and one remains at large.
The Milledgeville Police Department SRT Team executed a search warrant on Nov. 26 on Belfair Drive and took 17-year-old Dillon Chapman into custody in connection with the incident. He was charged with felony murder, four charges of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
A 14-year-old, whose identity is withheld, was taken into custody on Nov. 27 for felony murder, four charges of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Eighteen-year-old Derquavious Kier is still at large as of Nov. 29. He is wanted for felony murder, four charges of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
This case is currently still under active investigation. Further charges are pending additional investigation.
