Milledgeville Mayor Mary Parham-Copelan gave the State of the City address during the Milledgeville City Council meeting on Tuesday.
The mayor highlighted both city and city council achievements during her address and presented a slide show to the audience of the bulleted lists.
Some key highlights included the Public Works Department completing multiple resurfacing projects including the highly requested repaving of Field Stone Drive, Felicia Jones was promoted as Milledgeville’s first female fire inspector and assistant fire marshal, the Water & Sewer Department received the Platinum Award for the James Baugh Water Treatment Plant and the Platinum Award for the Lamar Ham water Treatment Plant, flock cameras were installed community wide, and much more. This address was also given previously on Feb. 13 at Georgia College & State University where audience members also heard the State of the County Address from Baldwin County Commissioner Chair Emily C.
Davis.
After the address, the council approved two resolutions and several alcohol licenses and renewals unanimously, excluding alderman Walter Reynolds who was not present.
The first resolution approved an agreement with Zambelli Fireworks Manufacturing Company to provide a fireworks display for the City of Milledgeville’s Independence Day Celebration.
The second resolution approved issuance of additional bonds under the Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act for additional funding of the Orchard Hill Landing Project.
Regarding alcohol licenses, Tigers Market and Tigers Bottle Shop requested licenses were approved and Georgia CVS Pharmacy received approval to renew their license for beer and wine packaged to go.
