The Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) continues to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Milledgeville at Antioch Primitive Baptist Church on Old Monticello Road.

On Dec. 13, Deputy Greg See and Sgt. Ernesto Lopez responded to a burglary in progress at the church.

According to a press release from the GBI, the deputies entered the building to make sure no one was inside.

While inside, a woman identified as Fiesta Lattina Murphy, 48, attacked one of the deputies with a hammer. According to the GBI report, he was hit in the arm while blocking his head. The deputies attempted to guide Murphy to drop the hammer, but she attempted a second attack.

At this time, the deputies fired their service weapons, hitting Murphy. Murphy was grazed by one bullet in the head and shot in the backside and the thigh. Both deputies rendered aid on scene until EMS arrived and Murphy was taken to Atrium Health Navicent in Macon and is expected to recover. Upon her release from the hospital, Murphy was charged with burglary, arson, and aggravated assault.

Since Monday, body-cam footage of this incident has been released. Baldwin2k provides a breakdown of the footage on its YouTube channel. The footage is shown from the perspective of Deputy Greg See. In the breakdown, See and Lopez can be seen walking in a dark room using flashlights to guide them around the pews and altar.

At 15 seconds in the video, Lopez can be seen about to enter a dark hallway when one of the deputies says, “Did you say the last name was Murph?” Right as the question finishes, Lopez can be heard yelling, and both deputies run back.

At exactly 21 seconds into the recap, the first gunshot can be heard among the yelling of “Hey! Hey! Hey!” and the deputies stumble backward to create space between them and Murphy.

“Fifteen seconds later, Lopez exits the church to call for EMS while See begins assessing wounds,” according to Baldwin2K video.

At 52 seconds in the recap, nothing can be seen, but one of the deputies can be heard asking Murphy what she has in her hand, to let him see her hand, and he questions if she is okay. She responds, “I thought you were an intruder.” He answers by asking her where she was hit, but her response is hard to make out. Her response is at the one-minute mark of the recap.

“The deputies began rendering first aid 170 seconds after shots were fired,” the video states.

At 1 minute and 27 seconds, visuals return to the body cam footage and the deputies can be heard and seen treating Murphy with first aid. According to the end of the recap, paramedics arrived 16 minutes later from this footage to treat Murphy.
