Georgia College & State University soccer was picked as the No. 6 seed in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament on Tuesday.
The PBC constructed a new format for the tournament where the top two seeds host the quarterfinals and the semifinals. The Bobcats will travel to the No. 2 seed Flagler College to play their quarterfinal contest against the No. 3 seed the University of North Georgia on Thursday, Oct. 27.
GCSU will play the second match of the day in Saint Augustine, Fla. which is set for 4:30 p.m. The host seed Flagler will take on No. 7 seeded Young Harris College at 1p.m. Assuming the Bobcats pick up a win on Thursday over the Nighthawks they are scheduled to play Saturday, Oct. 29 against the winner of the first quarterfinal game in Saint Augustine.
This will be the second match-up of the season between the two squads of GCSU and UNG. In the previous contest, the Bobcats took a 3-1 loss. The freshman forward from Gainesville, Georgia Ava Martin scored the only goal of the game for the Bobcats on a penalty kick.
The Bobcats ended the regular season with a 5-7-3 overall record and a 4-4-2 conference record. The largest win margin this season for GCSU was the home opener against the University of Auburn at Montgomery. They scored five goals compared to the Warhawks one. As far as conference contests go the Bobcats hung two over Georgia Southwestern to earn the shutout victory.
