Information sought for homicide

>> SHERIFF’S DEPT.

The local sheriff’s department is working to investigate the homicide of a man in Baldwin County.

On Sept. 27, law enforcement was dispatched in reference to a deceased person on the 100 block of South Edwards Street. A family member of 27-year-old Chavonta Chavez Braddy found him lying on the floor with blood visible under him inside his residence. Both his home and a vehicle in the yard were observed to have been struck by gunfire. The victim appeared to have been shot multiple times.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Maj. Brad King, head of the criminal investigations division, reported that the vehicle in the yard had several signs of bullet shots along with various outside areas of Braddy’s home. According to him, the family member who discovered the victim called them right away upon discovery.

“We were able to locate evidence at the scene and do some processing at the crime lab so the investigation is still ongoing,” said King. “It is still too early to say whether the recent shootings are connected or to be able to definitively identify any suspects involved in the case.”

Anyone with information about the fatal shooting is asked to call the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office Crime Tip Line at 478-445-5102 or 911.
