Woman dies in single-vehicle wreck on Mother’s Day

A young woman lost her life in a car crash after she left from visiting family members at Lake Sinclair on Mother’s Day, according to authorities.

Donna Hope Cheshire, 26, of Milledgeville, was killed when she lost control of her car and crashed into a utility pole and then a tree, said Putnam County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Russell Blenk.

Cheshire was driving a 2013 Infinity G37 north on Spring Road near Inez Drive around 8:30 p.m. Investigation revealed her car crossed over into the left lane; she overcorrected and went off the road on the right side, hitting a utility pole before her car crashed into a tree, Blenk said.

The chief deputy said it is unknown why she lost control of the car. He said no one witnessed the crash, but nearby residents heard it and called emergency personnel.

As a hairstylist and cosmetologist, Hope Cheshire ran Hair by Hope, located in Beyond Bronzed Nutrition, a full-service salon in Milledgeville. She was loved by her clients and all who knew her, according to the social media posts after her death. Several described her as “a hair artist” and many recounted how comfortable she made them feel when they sat in her salon chair for a hair makeover.

“This morning I found out a beautiful soul was taken from us all way too early,” wrote Miranda Salster. “Hope Cheshire was a blessing to be around. No matter how her day was going, she always made sure you were doing better than her.”

“Hope Cheshire, my heart is so heavy, you were more than a babysitter and a friend,” said Isabella Moore-Reel. “You watched me grow up and you inspired me to be more and to follow my heart. … Your smile would light up a room when you walked in. You never failed to get a laugh out of me when either of us were having a bad day. …You were passionate in everything you did. …Such an openminded soul, you were there for anyone and everyone.”

“Hope Cheshire, you were the light and the fire in a room,” commented Chelsea Campbell Bryant. “You have no idea the impact you made on others. You never let me leave without a hug… I don’t think anyone can ever do my hair as good as you did. To the kindest, goofiest, most humble person I knew, you will be missed so much. Please pray for Hope and her family for comfort and peace knowing she’s reunited with her mother in Heaven.”

Visitation with family and friends begins at 11 a.m. at Eatonton First United Methodist Church, 103 W. Magnolia St., Eatonton. The memorial service is at 1 p.m. arrangements by Vining Ivy Hill Chapel.
