Man caught shoplifting beerOn Aug. 13, law enforcement was dispatched to the Jet Food Store, at 301 E. Hancock St., in reference to a shoplifting. The complainant witnessed Zeraun Gibson enter the location and take a beer totaling approximately $2. He concealed it in his gray shorts.

GCSU’s impact on regional economy rises

Georgia College & State University’s (GCSU) economic impact in Central Georgia jumped to $308 million in 2023, up 1.8% over the previous year.That figure marks a 9% increase ($26 million) over the past three years.The university continues to create jobs in the area, as well.

Georgia College & State University’s (GCSU) annual GCSU Gives Day occurred Aug. 17, dispersing freshmen throughout their new community, Milledgeville, to learn the importance of giving back.The expected economic impact of this year’s donated labor was $120,000.
