A witness helped identify the suspect in a drive-by shooting, leading to another arrest for a convicted felon.
On Aug. 25, law enforcement was dispatched to West Thomas Street after receiving a report of shots fired. The first witness stated that she saw the victim and Octavious Hurt fighting across the street earlier in the day.
Later that day, she then saw a white truck pass by the residence, fire gunshots and speed away. The first witness was unable to identify who the shooter was. Another witness, who was at the residence being shot at, reported that the victim and Hurt got into a fight and that he and his brother broke it up.
According to the male, Hurt hit the victim in the face, but they never fought back. He affirmed that one shot was fired and identified the shooter as Hurt. The other brother present confirmed the same story of events.
Hurt was arrested for four counts of aggravated assault, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
