>> SUPPORT FOR VETERANS
Shane’s Rib Shack is going to the Georgia War Veterans Home to donate and serve food to veterans on Nov. 4 in honor of Veterans Day later in the month.
“This is something we do locally and encourage all of our franchisees to do similar events,” said Kalysea Lovan, director of marketing at Shane’s Rib Shack corporate office.
Annually Shane’s Rib Shack donates food to veteran’s homes across the country. At the Georgia War Veterans Home, they will be donating and serving trays of chopped barbeque pork, chopped barbeque chicken, coleslaw, peach cobbler and gallons of sweet tea and lemonade.
“We did this event prior to COVID but had to stop due to restrictions,” said Lovan.
“We’re very excited to resume this tradition this year. It’s very important for us to show appreciation for our communities, and especially for our veterans who sacrificed for our freedoms.”
Shane Thompson, founder and chief executive officer of Shane’s Rib Shack, is an advocate for members of the armed focus and believes in honoring America’s heroes each year.
“At Shane’s, we believe all members of the armed forces have answered a special calling to defend the freedom of our citizens and nations,” Thompson said in a press release. “My grandfather, ‘Big Dad,’ served in the Military during World War II and I consider all military servicemembers to be members of the Shane’s family. It’s an honor to be able to give back to them and show a small token of appreciation for their service and dedication to our great country.”
Along with donating to veteran homes, nationally Shane’s Rib Shack will be offering one free BBQ pork or chopped BBQ chicken plate to all active, inactive and retired military personnel starting Wednesday, Nov. 9 through Friday, Nov. 11th. One meal per veteran and military ID or proof of service is required.
“Since our company was founded on the principal of having a strong sense of community, we collectively are committed to giving back and making positive impacts,” said Lovan. “This is just a small thank you to show our appreciation.
Shane’s Rib Shack will also be offering the community the opportunity to thank veterans across the country. At participating locations, including the one in Milledgeville, ‘Thank You’ cards and coloring sheets will be made available for guests to pay tribute to veterans with personalized notes. The cards will be displayed inside the restaurants to be distributed to veterans who visit throughout November or to local veteran homes.
“Across the board, regardless of our location, our mission remains the same to provide good barbecue and good service,” said Lovan. “Every day we strive to uphold this, in addition to supporting each community we are serving.”
