Senior citizen facing felony charges – again

Back in May, Deebra Smith was arrested and charged with aggravated battery after reportedly punching another woman so hard that it fractured the victim’s jawbone. Smith, 64, was accused of assaulting the victim, also a senior citizen, at the Dogwood retirement apartments after the victim “was talking trash” about a man that Smith previously dated in 2017 and how “he no longer wanted her.”

Now, Smith is back at the county jail and facing four more felonies, This time, Smith is accused of cashing four “fictitious Western Union money orders” at Johnnie McDade’s Grocery. Each money order was in the amount of $1,000, according to an incident report.

Added the deputy’s narrative in the incident report: “After reviewing the security footage and the copies of the money orders provided by Exchange Bank, I secured warrants on Smith for four counts of O.C.G.A. 16-9-21: Printing, executing, or negotiating checks, drafts, orders, or debit card sales.”
