A home for horses

Greenfield Farm offers free reign

Greenfield Farm is the new luxurious haven to open for Baldwin County horses.

A month ago, Kelly Tresider and her family moved to Milledgeville to open a boarding farm for horses. Originally from Rhode Island, Tresider has past experience working on horse farms and owning a wide variety of animals on her own. Since she was a little girl, she dreamed of owning a stable and caring for horses and finally decided it was time to take the step towards that dream.

“My son recently started riding and just seeing the joy that he had on his face riding, brought back a lot of joyful memories for myself,” said Tresider. “So, I knew I was only getting older and we just kind of took a leap of faith.”

Greenfield Farms is located at 160 Tanya Road Northeast in Milledgeville. There is about 24 acres of land for the horses to roam in along with a barn that currently houses 3 stalls. The land is full of natural trees and lush grass for grazing along with flatter land or hills for horses to explore and exercise in.

“We will take any boarder but we want to really focus time on retired horses or horses that just need a place to be,” said Tresider. “We have so much land on the property that is beautiful, quiet, and safe for them. They can just live their life with the utmost care.”

Tresider would like to focus on boarding horses who are retired or older to give them a quality of life that includes relaxation and love. However, Tresider is happy to accept any horses and is currently working to clean out the large arena so that owners, who come to visit, can ride.

“We are continuously working to have the barn and the arena perfect and ready for everyone,” said Tresider. “We do not plan to host riding lessons and such, but we do have the arena and a large tack room for riders who board here.”

Monthly board induces a tack room complete with a washer, dryer and sink along with a large outdoor riding arena. Horses will have 23 acres of fully fenced and gated property to explore. Greenfield Farm will also provide hay and grain, clean water, blankets, turning horses in and out and giving medicine to the horses, if required. In addition, Tresider lives directly on the property to keep a careful watch of all the horses.

“It’s magical to be here. I love the horses and the land, and I will give the horses a quality of life with love and freedom,” said Tresider. “Our main goal is to give horses some nice, quiet time after probable years of having to work and train.”
