Georgia Military College lost a tough one in Texas last Saturday, falling 30-20 to Tyler Junior College.
It was one of the marquee games of the season in junior college football, with the Apaches entering Saturday ranked fourth and the Dawgs sixth. GMC had a fourthquarter lead, but the Apaches scored the game’s last 13 points en route to victory.
In the previous era of JUCO football, the loss would’ve been devastating for the Dawgs’ national title hopes. Now, however, there’s a four-team playoff, so the Dawgs’ national title dreams aren’t dead. GMC must rebound in a hurry, however, as another old Texas powerhouse - Trinity Valley - comes to Milledgeville on Saturday for the season opener at Davenport Field. The Cardinals are ranked sixth in the latest poll, while the Dawgs are 10th.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., the standard starting time for GMC JC home games.
