GBI alerts local schools of “potential threat”

There was an increased law enforcement presence at schools around Baldwin County on Monday morning, which followed a lead from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Early Monday morning, the GBI “picked up on some social media traffic and a potential threat for schools specific to Milledgeville,” according to Corey Goble, the director of safety and security for the Baldwin County School District.

The Milledgeville Police Department and Baldwin County Sheriff's Office assisted.

Ultimately, schools opened as normal, and the school day operated as normal.
