Entering auto arrests made

16 SEPARATE AUTO BREAK-INS WERE REPORTED LAST WEEK ALONE

The stretch of North Columbia Street between Heritage Road and Dunlap Road was hit hard late last week, as 16 separate entering autos were documented.

The investigation ultimately led to a wooded area between North Jefferson Street and Karen Circle, where most of the stolen items were recovered. That led to an apartment in the 1900 block of Karen Circle, where a search warrant was executed and two men were arrested.

Osiris Stroud, 23, and Darius Leslie, 25, were each booked at the county jail and charged with six counts of entering auto and four counts of financial transaction fraud. One of the suspects attempted to use a stolen debit card to make an online purchases, using his personal email address and last name, in the process.

“Basically, they were walking around parking lots at different hotels and other places pulling on door handles,” said Maj. Brandon Sellers with the Milledgeville Police Department. “So far, we’ve recovered a handgun, electronics and other items.”

Sellers encouraged citizens to lock their vehicle doors, especially at night.
