City council approves loan extension for Partners in Dine

The Milledgeville City Council met on Tuesday to discuss a request from Partners in Dine, LLC.

The meeting began with the council listening to the first reading of an ordinance amending the charter to accept approximately 0.44 acres of land located at 135 Jacqueline Terrace into the corporate limits of the City of Milledgeville. This ordinance was assigned to the Planning and Zoning committee.

Moving into new business, the council unanimously approved a resolution to adopt the 2023 Joint Comprehensive Plan update for Baldwin County and the city of Milledgeville.

Moving into the last resolutions, Mayor Mary Parham-Copelan informed the council that Partners in Dines 120 revolving loan fund balloon payment is due in March. They have requested the balloon payment be refinanced for another 120 months. Two resolutions had to be approved for this request to occur.

The first resolution authorizes a loan service agreement with Century Bank and Trust to act as the independent contractor for a redevelopment loan extension for Partners in Dine, LLC.

“The first is paying the way for Century Bank and Trust to act as the city’s independent contractor and accept the loan payments on behalf of the city. If the council does not enter into this agreement, we would then be able to accept the balloon payment as an extension of the loan so they can continue with the payments,” explained Copelan.

The second resolution authorizes an extension and modification agreement with Partners in Dine, LLC to extend the redevelopment loan.

Both of these resolutions were unanimously approved.

The next city council meeting will be on Feb. 28 at 6:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Milledgeville City Hall.
