CONTRIBUTED In November, the Baldwin Band of the Braves closed their marching band season with two grand champion titles and placed third overall in their final competition. GCSU and the city received a $100,000 grant to educate community members on the design and installation of solar panels. Through this funding GCSU offered a free certificate course blending business and solar physics to provide $20,000 worth of solar panels to Baldwin County’s water treatment facility. The grant was used to fund the hydroponic growing system that teaches students about plant science and to address food insecurity in the community. (CREATE) Director Gregory Barnes, Oconee Outfitters owner Adam Heagy, and Community Baptist Church Pastor Chip Reeves presented 46 bikes to the Baldwin County Board of Education. CONTRIBUTED In September, Porter’s Place exhibited their work at the Creator’s Corner hosted by Allied Arts. Porter’s Place is a local woodwork and ceramics business. The woodworker and his apprentice hosted a table overflowing with handcrafted decorations, utensils, and more.
