Car-Mart of Milledgeville hosted its Grill & Chill Fan Drive Social June 27 to spotlight Overview, Inc. and the Animal Rescue Foundation, the two organizations selected to receive fans donated through the company’s Community Fan Drive.
General Manager Jae Minor of Car-Mart of Milledgeville cooked hot dogs and gave out bottle waters to anyone who stopped by. Overview, Inc. and the Animal Rescue Foundation each had a tent where they gave out information about their organization and answered questions regarding their individual causes.
The Animal Rescue Foundation is Baldwin County’s local rescue organization. Onsite, they had a litter of chihuahua puppies, and an adult dog named January to meet their potential future families. All fans donated to ARF will be used to keep the dogs and cats at the rescue cool during the summer.
Overview, Inc. is a local non-profit organization that “identifies problems, provides services and operates programs in an effort to enable elderly and economically disadvantaged citizens to achieve self-sufficiency,” according to its website. The organization provides multiple services, including an energy assistance program, community services, senior services, and housing services. Fans donated to the organization will be given to those in need.
“The goal behind our event was to get the community outside and engaging with our partners,” said Minor. “We aim every year to give back. We believe in more than driving cars. We're committed to driving positive change.”
Through June 30, customers brought in new 20-inch box fans and could leave with a “quality used vehicle for as low as $499 down.” The theme of this year’s drive was ‘Savings That Will Blow You Away,’ according to Minor.
The fans were on display in front of the tents and were also being used during the event to keep both the attendees, hosts, and animals cool.
“This project allowed Car-Mart to reduce the down payment on vehicles and make it more affordable for customers to purchase a vehicle while also leaving a lasting impact on our partner organizations,” said Minor. “It’s a joy each year to host this promotion and give back.”
Car-Mart associates will deliver the fans to local charities in their communities in early July.
