The Baldwin County Charter System Foundation participated in the Giving Tuesday Campaign on Nov. 29 in collaboration with the Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN).

“GAgives on Giving Tuesday is Georgia’s most significant generosity movement, designed to connect Georgians to its nonprofits,” states a post on Baldwin County School’s website. “For every dollar donated to the BCS Foundation on Tuesday, the GCN will match it.”

Led by the Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN), the movement was launched in 2012 and has raised more than $90 million for the benefit of thousands of nonprofits. This year 13,717 donors raised $2,862,864 statewide on GAgives day. On the local level, the BCCS Foundation board members made a pledge of $1,000 or more on Giving Tuesday but, by the end of the day, the foundation had raised $7,160 through 20 donors.

“The money raised on Giving Tuesday clearly represents the value donors have for the importance of supporting the students and teachers in the Baldwin County School District,” said Dr. Noris Price, Baldwin County superintendent. “Employees, foundation board members and the community at large all contributed during Giving Tuesday and all share in the success of that day.”

The money donated will be used for the REACH scholarship program, the Teacher of the Year Recognition Program, the Pursuit of Excellence awards, New Teacher Orientation, Teacher Appreciation Week, Retirement Recognition programs and other initiatives throughout the year. Each of these programs supports students and teachers within the Baldwin County School District.

“What should not be lost in recognizing the fund-raising effort on Nov. 29 is the yearround financial support that our partners in education, civic organizations, families, and the entire Milledgeville community provide in support of the mission and goals of the foundation and the Baldwin County School District,” said Price.
