Georgia Military College (GMC) was honored to welcome U.S. Congressman Mike Collins, representing Georgia’s 10th Congressional District, to its main campus in Milledgeville for a special appointment signing ceremony.
Collins, who nominated Cadet Mason Honea for the U.S. Air Force Academy, presented him with a Congressional Certificate marking the culmination of their journey together and celebrating Honea’s official appointment to the academy.
Collins personally recognized Honea, a Falcon Foundation Scholar from Greensboro, for receiving his appointment to the United States Air Force Academy.
His visit highlighted the importance of celebrating and supporting students who choose the path of military service and academic excellence.
Honea’s appointment serves as the finale of his year as a Falcon Foundation Scholar at GMC, where he has demonstrated exceptional dedication both academically and physically. The Falcon Foundation partners with GMC to help scholarship recipients minimize the cost of their preparatory year while they strengthen their candidacy for the U.S.
Air Force Academy.
“We are incredibly proud of Cadet Honea,” said Lieutenant General William B. Caldwell, IV, president of Georgia Military College. “His accomplishment reflects the strength of our partnership with the service academies and our mission to develop educated leaders of character.”
