LO Elks celebrate Christmas in July with GWVH veterans

Last Tuesday, Lake Oconee Elks Lodge No. 2849 members visited the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville, to celebrate Christmas in July with veterans in residence. One resident, Richard Pieno, played Santa for the group, while the Elks decorated a Christmas tree, brought gifts and cards from school children, pizza, and ice cream. The party, arranged by Elks Lodge Veterans Chairman Mike De Petrillo, was attended by 37 veterans, 11 care personnel and 11 Elks. The party continued on Friday, when 21 veterans with attendants were accompanied by three Elks to the Starlight Theatre to watch the latest Superman movie. The entire group later enjoyed Dairy Queen lunches together.
