Griffin Jr. St. More info: This semester, 19 students in GCSU’s Ethnographic Methods class conducted research about public spaces and public life in Milledgeville, focusing on how public spaces facilitate community-building for Milledgeville residents. The sites they have studied included the Oconee River Greenway, several of the Parks (Walter B. Williams and City Park), different branches of the Mary Vinson Public Library, and downtown Milledgeville. Public exhibit will show student research.

What: Stumpery Workshop When: 2 p.m. Where: Hwy. 441 S., 1534 Irwinton Rd. More info: The world’s first stumpery was created in Staffordshire, England, in the mid-19th century by James Bateman. A Victorian-era obsession began. Using old stumps, root balls, ferns, mosses, and other low-light thriving plants, gardeners created unique, almost fantastical spaces all over the United Kingdom and beyond.
