Maxine Blackwell

Maxine Blackwell Gonzalez age 58, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2018. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Freedom Church with Rev. Tim Thomas officiating. Burial followed at West View Cemetery.

Maxine was a life-long resident of Milledgeville. She was a 1980 graduate of Georgia College, and a 1985 graduate of the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University. She served as Solicitor General of Baldwin County for over 27 years. Maxine was a devoted Christian, daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to all. She was a longtime advocate for domestic violence awareness and victim’s rights through her work as solicitor general for Baldwin County. Maxine was the most unselfish person and truly loved everyone. Her work family meant the world to her and she had the most genuine love for all the citizens of Baldwin County. She had a love for her farm animals and pets and was an accomplished pianist and painter. She was preceded in death by her mother Ruby Adams Blackwell and was a member of Freedom Church. She was a gift to all and will truly be missed by all who came in contact with her.

Survivors include her husband John Gonzalez, two daughters Kayla Gonzalez Bearden (Nick) and Halli Gonzalez; her father Gary Max Blackwell, two brothers, Gary Blackwell (Jan) and Todd Blackwell (Jill) all of Milledgeville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
