Margaret Stoner, known as Maggi to all, was born in Fairbanks, Alaska on Nov. 10, 1949. During her childhood and teenage years, she lived in California, Japan, and Afghanistan, enjoying a relationship with her family that remained close throughout her life. Maggi earned her BA in Education from the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington and later a Masters Degree in Education from Boston University.

Maggi met and married Sergeant Guy Stephen Stoner in Kabul, Afghanistan in 1972, where she lived with her family and where Steve was stationed with the US Army. Together they moved throughout the world during their married life, making homes in Washington, Italy, Germany, New York, Texas, Maryland, and Georgia. They raised two sons, Scott Stephen and William Bennett. After Steve retired from the Army as a Command Sergeant Major, they moved to Milledgeville. In Milledgeville, Steve taught at Georgia Military College, while Maggi worked with international students at Georgia College and State University.

Maggi was predeceased in death by Steve, as well as her parents, Margaret and Charles Bennett. She is survived by sons Scott (Stacie) and their son, Elijah Wade, and by William. She is also survived by brothers John (Nickie) Bennett and Stuart Bennett, and by sisters Lee Anne Martinez and Carol (John) Zukerman.

Maggi was exceedingly proud of her sons, Scott and William, and the men they have become.

Maggi asked there be a gathering to celebrate her life, with special requests for attire of t-shirts and jeans, sharing of happy stories, and lots of laughter. Details for this celebration will be announced in the coming weeks. In lieu of flowers or donations, she asked everyone to please give a big smile and a hug to the next person they meet.

Moores Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of arrangements.
