First responders converged on The Bellamy student apartments on Monday, as a Georgia College student suffered a medical emergency and passed away.
Catrina Evans, a 20-year-old student from Gwinnett County, was announced as the deceased. Evans suffered from an autoimmune liver disease, according to a report from the Milledgeville Police Department. Evans previously had texted a friend and alerted the friend that she wasn’t feeling well. At some point, she lost consciousness, and the friend called 911.
Evans’ mother recalled her daughter’s life as part of a Facebook post on Tuesday. “Yesterday we lost our beloved daughter, Catrina. She was a wonderful young woman and a great daughter and sister. She was kind, caring, loving, friendly, determined, and hardworking. She experienced so much at such a young age-friendships and relationships, college and independence, sickness and health,” read the post. “She was strong; stronger than most 20 year olds have to be. She is such a blessing in our lives. She will continue to live in our hearts and memories for all the years to come.
“The Lord has welcomed her into heaven, and we know that she is experiencing more joy now than she ever has on this earth. We have hope in the fact that we will see her again someday. As we mourn our Catrina, we would appreciate prayers and support. Updates for funeral arrangements to come.”
