Football season is officially here. Ahead of Kickoff for the GMC Bulldogs season, the college hosted a community-wide event for community members to meet the junior college football team. The event took place at GMC’s Davenport Field.

The outdoor event allowed for fans to meet players, get autographs and chat with players. The team this year is composed of more than 115 players, with more than half coming from Georgia, including 17 players from the Middle Georgia area.

“It was amazing to have our community come out to support our Bulldogs,” said Rob Manchester, GMC JC Head Football Coach and Athletic Director. “Our players are really pumped up for the season because of the support they received at Meet Your Bulldogs. We are thankful to have our community behind us, and we thank everyone for showing their bulldog pride as they met their hometown team!”

The event was also attended by several local businesses, including Kona Ice, Lake County Bouncers and Southern Dawgs BBQ.

Anyone who didn’t get a chance to attend the event will get another chance to see the Bulldogs in action. On Sept. 11, GMC will hold its Fall Open House. Prospective students and their families will be given admission to the game.

You can register for the open house by calling GMC Admissions at 478-387-7263 or emailing khpope@gmc.edu.

The GMC JC football team will kick off their season on Saturday, Sept. 4, at Monroe College in New York. The first GMC home game will be Saturday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m. on Davenport field, where there will be a special Patriot Day recognition during halftime.
